The Yacht Prestige collection has evolved over the past five years. 2016 saw the disappearance of the yellow Rolesor version from the collection, replaced by a new two-tone copy watch, this time with Everose taking on the precious metal part. Available in 37mm and 40mm sizes, they share only two dial colors; black and brown. The latter, in particular, is a fantastic idea, with one of the warmest visuals of all Rolexes.
As for the Rolesium models, there are only three in the collection. 40 mm has platinum and cobalt faces, and 37 mm is still only platinum for some reason.
The Everose models, available with ceramic bezels and lacquered black straps, have two dial options each. The traditional black is another good match, but for sheer luxury, it is also offered with a full diamond pavé.
Finally, the next step in the Yacht-Master story unveils itself in 2019, to the surprise of almost everyone.
The 226659 comes in a 42 mm size, the first time YM has broken the 40 mm mark, bringing the model back into the three-size range.
For many, this latest creation is the best of all. Cast in 18-carat white gold (case, crown, and clasp) with a black Cerachrom bezel and Oysterflex strap, it is the “hidden treasure” you could ask for. Effortlessly navigating the line between straightforward tool replica watches and refined, understated luxury, it’s the perfect modern Rolex, and it’s no surprise to see 42mm examples growing significantly in the coming years.
That has happened to the Rolex Yacht Prestige over the past 10 years. What the future holds is impossible (as with any Rolex model), but for now, the collection is a very good balance, offering something for any taste.
While they may not be every new collector’s first choice, the Yacht-Master collection is growing in popularity. It is a welcome break from the ubiquitous submarines and GMT-Masters around the average boardroom table.
