Rolex Unveils Cosmograph Daytona to Commemorate 100th Anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Race

Rolex has introduced a striking new rendition of its iconic Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, designed as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the renowned 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance motor race. Crafted in elegant white gold, this latest variant features a dial adorned with the timeless “panda” layout, characterized by a black base complemented by a sunray finish and contrasting white counters.

The sub-counters exhibit a revered vintage aesthetic reminiscent of the Paul Newman or exotic dials, showcasing distinctive square-shaped markers and tracks. Constructed from white gold, the hands and applied markers are filled with Chromalight luminescent material, ensuring exceptional legibility even in low-light conditions.

Powered by an enhanced iteration of the self-winding caliber 4131 boasting a 72-hour power reserve, the reference 126529LN stands as the latest “engine” of the Cosmograph Daytona lineup. Introduced just three months ago at this year’s Watches and Wonders event, this caliber incorporates advanced features such as the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers, and meticulously decorated bridges bearing the hallmark Rolex Côtes de Genève.

Distinguishing itself from its predecessors, the caliber 4132 enables the chronograph function to measure time over twenty-four hours instead of the customary twelve, paying homage to the duration of the Le Mans race. This innovation is made possible by an additional patented mechanism, comprising seven components akin to a differential redesigned by replica Rolex.

Termed as an “epicyclic reducer” in technical jargon, this gear reduction system halves the rotational speed of the gear train responsible for driving the 24-hour hand. Remarkably, this mechanism seamlessly integrates into the movement’s architecture without compromising its performance in any manner. Adding to its allure, this replica watch features an exhibition case back, offering a glimpse into Rolex’s engineering innovations and unique technical prowess.

Measuring 40mm in width and 12.2mm in thickness, the reference 126529LN boasts the trademark Oyster case, water-resistant to 100 meters, and adorned with a Cerachrom bezel bearing a tachymeter scale. The bezel, crafted from black ceramic and accented by a delicate white gold band, showcases the number 100 in red ceramic as a nod to the race’s centenary celebration.

Completing the ensemble is an Oyster bracelet equipped with an Oysterlock folding safety clasp and Easylink comfort extension system, enabling wearers to adjust the bracelet length effortlessly by approximately 5 mm.
