The Rolex Daytona 116500 is a watch that can be worn daily in almost any situation or for formal occasions. It’s sporty, sturdy like all fake Rolex watches, absolutely perfect size and weight proportions, and looks stunningly new and ages gracefully as you wear it. I can’t think of another watch that executes these aspects, as well as the stainless steel Daytona.
The good news is that I’ve had this watch for about 3 months before starting my review. My heart skipped a beat at the end of May this year when I received an email from my favourite authorized replica Rolex dealer that the watch of my dreams had been assigned to me and was ready for collection. I couldn’t believe it, and this was a watch I thought I might never be able to buy – at least at retail. I confirmed my replica watch pickup time for the next day and made arrangements for the 6-hour drive from Montreal to Toronto. Aside from the aesthetics, specifications and history, one of the things I noticed was the impact of the Daytona name. It’s the first watch I’ve owned that made me feel quite subconscious, and I was immediately more aware of who was looking at my wrist and generally more careful when wearing it. It’s not a noisy watch, especially the black dial version, but it’s recognizable thanks to its chronograph shape. If someone knows what a Daytona is, they certainly won’t miss it when they see it.
The comfort level on the wrist is a 10 out of 10, and this steel variant is quite light. As mentioned, the watch is also perfectly sized, with all the curves and angles in all the right places, and simultaneously feels very elegant but sporty. The bezel and dial are inky black, and the bezel looks slimmer in person than in most photos. The tapered slope of the bezel is also more pronounced in reality but can occasionally be captured in time in photos.
The Daytona is unique in the Rolex lineup, as it is one of the few models that retain the classic case shape without transitioning to a super case, as seen on the blocky Submariner and GMT Master II variants, while also featuring Zenith-style hour and minute hands. The clone Rolex Daytona has so much going for it that I found myself pulling it out of the drawer to gaze at and admire it, its design execution appealing in the best possible way.
Folks, I think you all understand that I, like most watch owners, am enamoured by this watch. Sadly, it’s hard to get from authorized Rolex dealers, but I suggest you try it if you like this watch too. Many watches are available as temporary replacements, but you will always come back wanting this iconic timepiece.
