Thank you for this!

I'm exactly the same way when it comes to making things: I get frustrated then toss it aside. I'm learning to control that part of me, and am back into trying to make comics again. Thanks for this list of books!

I appreciate reading a piece which presents information in such a way that I feel I always knew about the point being made, but didn't know that I did. And I find myself agreeing with everything you say. You're right, the info-dump is insulting and story-slowing, but the absence of informing informing is quite alienating too. The art of reducing a mass of continuity to its essential "core" is indeed an art which I hope you might consider following up upon. The examples you give are wonderful ones, and I'd love to see more of them.

The pithy and appropriate comment - "Tried it. Didn't like it." - also makes a collaborator of the reader. If they don't get the detail of the matter being refered, they get the sense of it and may be encouraged to seek out more information. If they do know the detail, they're immediately drawn into joining the dots and making sense of how what's been connects to what is.

It all makes me consider how much I preferred the Christopher Eccleston Dr Who, for example. That first RTD series was determined to avoid excessive continuity and therefore every mention of "Time Lord" or "My people ... " sent a shiver of recognition through me, though I'd never previously been a big Who fan. And there's the contrary process at work even in a classic film like "Casablanca", where we just don't need to know about Rick and Paris when the script and the acting have already said so much. Just two more lines in the right places and nothing more would have been needed.

I've watched a number of episodes of BatB and I have to say, I'm disappointed. I'm so sick to death of the lack of female heroes, and the horrible way those few heroes are treated.
Mayhem of the Music Meister pissed me off so much because of the treatment of Black Canary. Seriously, she spent e entire episode crying over her unrequited love for Batman! And the only way she "save the day" is by being manipulated by not one, but two men! Oh, and that whole sequence where she's singing about her love for Batman DESPITE THE FACT THAT SHE'S WEARING EARPLUGS!!!

Yeah, I really, really tied to like BatB, I did. But... Too much fail too early on.

What would you do if the internet crashed for good? Would you get used to life with less communication and less "being connected" or would you be pretty bummed for the rest of your life?

This is assuming it was not fixed. Perhaps some largescale EMP attack or something that crippled it for the next 50+ years or so.
