Cat plays furry grim reaper at nursing home.
This is incredibly sweet, and appeals to a crazy old cat lady in the making like myself. From the article:
Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours.
And since we’re on the subject of cats, I can’t seem to stop laughing at this cat macro.
I just saw that article on CNN. I’m not surprised to hear about the cat predicting death. Cats and dogs can detect subtle changes in a human body that signal impending illness or death. When my mom nearly died from a post-hysterectomy blood infection, it was my dog Anita who saved her life. Mom was home alone at the time and feeling 100% perfectly fine, when all of a sudden Anita started whining and rubbing against Mom’s feet, something that Anita had never done before. Anita’s behavior got so weird that my mom called her boyfriend to come over and help her take Anita to the vet. By the time that said boyfriend arrived, Mom had suddenly passed out on the couch. If he hadn’t found her, nobody might have missed her for a day or two – and she would have died. It was only because Anita started freaking out that Mom made her phone call. And it was Anita who knew that there *was* a reason to freak out before any of us, including my Mom, felt or suspected that anything was wrong.

What an amazing story Nenena! I’ve heard of dogs being able to do that. Once I read a story about a man who had two dogs that could detect when he was going to have a seizure.
My cat seems to always be able to tell when I’m injured or sick, and she’ll want to lie on the part of my body that’s injured. Usually this makes it feel better, but we run into problems when I’m hungover and she wants to lie on my stomach.

That’s so insanely morbid…but god isn’t it cute.

Hmm.
Apparently there is a video with the article now entitled, “Kitty purr-dicts the end.”
I am appalled.
