Second Art Et Cetera Auction Now Open!

Girl-Wonder.org is proud to announce that the second Art Et Cetera Auction is now open for bidding!

Items offered this year include signed pages from B.P.R.D., Ross Campbell original art, a Birds of Prey page from the Nicola Scott/Gail Simone run, original art from webcomics Pride High, Sorcery 101 and Dead Winter, and many other pieces displaying the talent and generosity of this year’s donors.

Art Et Cetera is the major fundraising event for Girl-Wonder.org. All proceeds will be used to cover organizational costs like website fees and expenses for the ongoing incorporation process, as well as
merchandise development and the development of a scholarship fund. Girl-Wonder.org is currently registering for non-profit status. All staffers and board members are unpaid volunteers.

Art Et Cetera: Tommy Roddy

Today’s first donor to be featured is Tommy Roddy! He is best known in the comics world as author of Prism Comics hit Pride High, about a group of queer and queer-allied students at superhero high school.

Roddy donated to last year’s auction, and has donated the original pencils for Page 24 of Pride High #5, drawn by Shaun Piela.

Bidding for this item will begin at $50.

Art Et Cetera: Kel McDonald

Today’s donator is Kel McDonald, writer/artist of the webcomic Sorcery 101 (and its accompanying Livejournal community).

Kel was generous enough to donate a piece for the first Art Et Cetera, and we’re happy to showcase her contribution this year: a fun 17 x 14 signed original Sorcery 101 illustration oF the cast having fun by the lake.

Art Et Cetera: Audrey Fox

Today’s donator is Audrey Fox, best known for her various comics-related fan art! Her donations are concept and cover art from the story “Snicker/Snack,” co-created with Girl-Wonder.org founder Mary Borsellino. The short story can be found in the compilation Girls Drawn Wild, which can be purchased here. All proceeds to organizations that help women.

Both pieces will individually begin at $16.

Art Et Cetera: Dave Shabet

The next donation we have is from comic writer/artist Dave Shabet! Shabet writes and draws Dead Winter, an action-filled modern fantasy/sci-fi horror story about a post-apocalypse living-dead zombie-infested, present-day world.

Shabet’s donation is a 9×12 art-marker illustration on Bristol of Dead Winter character Elizabeth Rose Cooper. Bidding for this item will start at $30.

Art Et Cetera: Ross Campbell

As the second annual Art Et Cetera auction draws near (October 6 – 10!), we’re going to be previewing some of the fantastic donations we’ve received so far! The first donator highlight is on Ross Campbell, best known as the artist and writer on Wet Moon, The Abandoned, Mountain Girl, and Minx offering Water Baby. Campbell’s art notably focuses on women of all sizes and women of colour.

Campbell generously donated several pieces for the first Art Et Cetera auction, and we’re proud this year to announce Campbell has donated 6 different pieces from Wet Moon. First up are two pages of original artwork from an early draft of Wet Moon, sized at 17″ x 13.24″. Next up is a collection of Wet Moon character prints, in order: Mara, Myrtle, and Audrey. All prints are 12″ by 8″ and set on Fujicolor Archive Paper with a matte finish. Campbell’s last piece is another original piece displaying an early Malady design. This image is about 11.5″ by 6.25″ and mounted on posterboard.

Any of these pieces would be a great addition to a Wet Moon fan’s collection. Minimum bids for the three original pieces of artwork will start at $100, while each of the prints will start at $6.

Girl-Wonder.org Now Accepting Donations for the Second Annual Art Et Cetera Auction!

Following the success of last year’s auction thanks to the amazing generosity of the comics community, Girl-Wonder.org is happy to announce the second Art Et Cetera auction. The web-based auction will be held from October 6-12 and donations are now being accepted.

Art Et Cetera accepts everything, from comics-inspired jewelry to one-of-a-kind dolls to artist commissions to original superhero artwork. Due to legal issues, submitting fanart of licensed characters or character emblems is strongly discouraged. However, all pieces submitted will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Something Special

Hannah Perlman’s contribution to the auction is a bit different from the other pieces: it hasn’t been drawn yet. That’s because Hannah has donated a piece of custom character art, which she’ll draw to the specifications of the winning bidder, who will also receive both a digital copy of the picture and a signed print (Hannah works primarily digitally, so there won’t be a paper original). This is a great chance for role-players, writers, and anyone with a rich fantasy life to see their characters come to life under Hannah’s talented pen.

Honor Among Punks

If Guy Davis’s gorgeous pages piqued your interest in Baker Street, you’re in luck: Guy has also donated three signed copies of Honor Among Punks, the complete Baker Street graphic novel. As if that’s not enough, he’s also taken the time to draw a piece of character art on the first page of each book!

Shaenon at Stumptown

This past weekend, Girl-Wonder.org made its convention debut at Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland, Oregon. Imagine our joyful surprise when guest-of-honor Shaenon Garrity ran up to our table, introducted herself, and asked if it was to late to donate a piece to the art auction!

What Shaenon gave us was the original art from a strip of her long-running web-and-print sensation, Narbonic. We are still blinking in awe.

The starting bid for this piece will be U.S. $25.
